French Contest: In March, the following nine French students participated in the National French Contest, a competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French.
Students were evaluated on their knowledge of grammar and their listening comprehension skills in French. Nearly 100,000 students in all 50 states competed in the 2012 event. We are proud to announce that we had three national winners and the other OOJH students placed in the top 80% nationally. Bravo!! We are proud to announce our team came in 14th place overall, that’s for the WHOLE state of Illinois! We are proud of our students and the hard work they do to be successful participants in Science Olympiad year after year. Congresswomen Schakowsky Visits OOJH
Dear Congresswoman Schakowsky,
On behalf of the OOJH 8th grade class, I'd like to thank you for coming to talk with us on April 16th about your role in Congress. We really enjoyed learning about how you got started in your political career and about all the things you are currently working on in Washington D.C. We are learning about the U.S. Constitution and preparing for the test at the end of May. This was a great opportunity for us to learn more from our representative and to have our questions answered. Thanks for all that you do for us! Andrew Lipin 8th Grader at OOJH Class of 2012 Special EventsOn Line Registration for 2012-2013 is now in progress.
